I didn't really get up to much last week, but I'll take a few moments to have a rant about finding accommodation here and the sheer incompetence of the British Council in helping its assistants. Skip this part if you want - I just need to rant about it! You don't find out where you're going to be working until the end of July, so its not possible to be able to afford to fly out and find accommodation beforehand. You don't get paid until the "end of October"- I'm still staring at 0 Euros in my bank account?????? Ok Hun.  They don't help you with any accommodation, don't contact local unis to see if you can stay in their halls of residence for a little while, nor give you some money towards an AirBnb/Hostel/Hotel - it's honestly a wonder there aren't more English assistants sleeping under bridges? Yes, mentor teachers are there to help you find accommodation, but they can only do as much as the assistant - ask around and search onlin

Sorryyyyyyyyyyy for not posting last week- my fianc é came to visit me last Sunday so I have been spending the week with him! So I'm going to do a double blog this week. I'm still living near the beach in the holiday home, though I have had a few more viewings that have gone well this week that I'll hear about this coming week. I have another viewing tomorrow also. I have sent two emails to the British Council to complain about them not giving the assistants anywhere to live, or at least help cover hotel/AirBnb costs (I'm unsure why the company cannot cooperate with local universities to help accommodate teaching assistants- if ERASMUS students can stop in university halls, why can't we?). No response yet, so I'll send another on about Thursday if there's still no response. Not very happy with that side of things. Words learned these weeks: der Gew ürz - spice/seasoning/condiment der L ängengard - longitude  die Eselohren - donkey ears (this may soun

Although am not looking forward to getting the bus at 6:45 tomorrow morning to work. I'll upload the pages of vocab as pictures, because there's 5 pages, and as much as I love educating the masses, I can't afford for my fingers to fall off due to overtyping.  Right, now you've recovered from looking at scruffy handwriting. Here was my week in a nutshell: Termine: about 50 million (5) Unsuccessful Termine: 2 Still waiting on that call Termine: 3 Termine next week: 4 Places lived: 3 Buses travelled on: 4 alone today, probs about 12 overall Successful German interactions (i.e. going into a shop and asking for something and being understood): 3 (out of 3) Montag : Had a teacher training day, where they were discussing conflict. Hallo hallo hallooooooo von Mecklenburg Vorpommen, Yes I am living here now, until Thursday. What a weeeeeeeeeeeeek. Gonna have to rack my brain about what I did on Monday... So, to start, we'll go through the new vocab (this might be boring to most of you but hell you might learn something so sit down and shut up). I'll also include the context where I learned the word (if I can remember) which might be more interesting to you: d ä mlich - stupid (Phoebe calls Ross stupid in friends and used this word) geborgt - borrowed (Phoebe has borrowed Monica's earrings in friends) abtreiben - to abort (We did about teenage pregnancy in one of my classes this week) die Abtreibung - abortion (as above) aufgebracht - upset (someone was upset with someone in Friends) die Lauer - a look out/a lurker (the old lady in Friends was lurking Phoebe in the slot machines) die Besichtigungstermine - viewing (I've been looking for a Wohnung this week so had to make a few of t
