Woche 3
Halloooooooooooooo from Timmendorfer Strand!!!!!!
Yes, I've moved again.
In fact, I've moved three times in a week, so.
But I'm here for 2 weeks now yay! Although am not looking forward to getting the bus at 6:45 tomorrow morning to work.
I'll upload the pages of vocab as pictures, because there's 5 pages, and as much as I love educating the masses, I can't afford for my fingers to fall off due to overtyping.
Right, now you've recovered from looking at scruffy handwriting. Here was my week in a nutshell:
Termine: about 50 million (5)
Unsuccessful Termine: 2
Still waiting on that call Termine: 3
Termine next week: 4
Places lived: 3
Buses travelled on: 4 alone today, probs about 12 overall
Successful German interactions (i.e. going into a shop and asking for something and being understood): 3 (out of 3)
Montag:
Had a teacher training day, where they were discussing conflict. None of the teachers seemed pleased to be there, and from the German I could pick up from the talker, he was talking absolute nonsense. I stayed for the morning, then went out for lunch and applied for more Termine and Wohnungen. Found what might be a new favourite cafe, the sandwiches were amazing (salami and cheese everytime babyyyyyyyyyy). Went home with colleague who I was living with at the time (in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) and waited for her washing machine to be delivered, then we went out and bought tea (a pasta bake in my case).
Dienstag:
Was the anniversary of the Reunification of Germany, so didn't have to go into work. Spent most of the day reading the newspapers I have accumulated (I still have 5 unread) and looking for more places to live.
Mittwoch:
Colleague was going to Hamburg for the day, and I only had to be in for one lesson (an hour and a half). Got to school at 8, so went to get some breakfast from aforementioned cafe, then went back to school and assisted in the lesson, in which they were learning about structuring a commentary. Somebody received the German card (a red card given to someone when they speak German in an English lesson, meaning they have to do an English presentation the following week- his topic is Conor McGregor). Went to a Termin, then had lunch, then went to another Termin, went to buy my dinner for the night, then eventually met my colleague at 18:00 (yes I had to wait around for 10 hours in the rain). Had to pack to move out the next day.
Donnerstag:
Left a little later (was sooooooooo happy to have a lie in until 7am- how sad is that??), then I went to a Termin. I walked there, which was a total mistake, because the weather was awful. My trainers are still so dirty and wet. Umbrella kept going inside out, probably looked like a lost tourist. Then I had a lesson to help in at 13:10, where I presented my lesson about Birmingham. The class always seem happy to have me there and some seem to want the opportunity to talk to me more. Am not needed in this lesson this week because they are having a test. When we left school, my colleague drove me to my AirBnB, and o God I wish I could stay there for the whole year, it was lovely. Before I took my bra off (the sign of "I'm not leaving the house again") I went to the supermarket over the road, couldn't find the baskets, so had to balance all the products I wanted on my exiguous lil hands. Must've looked very strange.
Freitag:
My day offfffffffffff. I got a very good lie in. Had a Termin, then came out and bought some lunch, headed home, did some reading, watched ProSieben pretty much all day, then went to sleep. God it was the best.
Samstag:
Had a nice lie in again. Then went to another Termin. I was a little late because the rain slowed me down and my umbrella was just total kaputt by the end of it. They found it funny how wet and pathetic I looked, so maybe they will take pity on me. Went back to town and bought a Monatskarte for the bus. Card wouldn't work so had to hand over my 100 Euro note, which was a sad occassion. Met the other assistants for some Flammkuchen, then went for some drinks, then had to run for the bus home in the rain. When I got home I watched Empire Strikes Back in German, and God I forgot how scary Yoda looks in that movie.
Sonntag (Heute):
Woke up, packed, had waffles for breakfast (which I've had every other day and I don't regret a thing). Check out was at 1pm, but couldn't get to this accommodation until 4pm. Thought it'd be ok and worst comes to worst I'd be waiting on the beach for a bit.
WELL.
TURNS OUT TODAY WAS THE LUEBECK MARATHON. AND THE BUS WAS CANCELLED. OR SO I THOUGHT.
Now you're going to see what is typical in my life- I get stressed about something but it usually turns out that I have misunderstood, or crossed a bridge before I've come to it. I assume too much, and I make an ass out of just me.
There's a lil bus station by my school, where I exited the bus, with my suitcase, back-breaking backpack and bag for life containing my washing. Said the number 40 bus was cancelled. Started crying, wondering what the hell am gonna do, no busses are going through the city centre, and I can barely walk for more than 10 mins with this backpack on. Got self together, and decided to get on the next bus that comes so I can (hopefully) get to the bus station, from which this bus'll be running. So I chuck my suitcase on and the bus drives around the island, arriving at the bus station at 14:32. My bus was due at 14:30 and this is Germany. Yay for hour long waits in bus stations where you have to pay 50 cent per toilet trip (and don't get me started on those toilets, I damn near Alice in Wonderlanded the hell out of them by almost falling in). 15:30 FINALLY rolls round, I get on the bus. I'm on it for about 10 mins.
And where the hell do we pull up????? At the small bus station I was at before. Turns out I was waiting on the wrong side of the station. Cried and stressed over essentially nothing. What. A. Ball. Ache.
Finally got off the bus, and walked here, then went to Aldi before I got too comfortable. They didn't have baskets AGAIN so had to perform my balancing act (seriously do they not have baskets in Germany or do they just hide them from me when they see me approach?). Got home, had tea, now I'm watching German Family Fortunes. Was fur ein Leben.
Hopefully next week (when my fiance will be here with me!!!) I will be writing with better news of somewhere to finally live!
Waffles and tea for breakfast
Flammkuchen and smiley faces (a true German dish)
A rainbow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
The German Chase (poor showing)
The Poster that got me A N G E R Y
The German Dickinson's Real Deal (dat tasche doeeeeeeeee)
