Woche 30
Moin moin, this week I did a lot of travelling, and mostly, sitting on trains.
Words this week:
jederzeit- anytime
das Grapefruit- grapefruit
(Not many, oops)
Montag
I wrote my blog, and did all my washing. I also had to do my shopping because I had 0 food in the house. I bought prawns, some more prawns that turned out to be crab meat upon closer inspection, and some small medallions that resembled fishcakes (they were indeed fishcakes and were absolutely scrumptious!).
Dienstag
I got up early and got on the bus to go to the train station. I was visiting Bremen. I got there about 10:45 (a whole 2 minutes early!). I met an internet friend who I'd known for about 5 years or so and he gave me a tour of Bremen, before buying me an ice cream (thanks, Maik!) and we sat by the river and talked about life. He then had to go to work, so I took a stroll along the river, stopping for reading breaks and eating my lunch. I then checked the train home- it was running half an hour late. Because I'd already spent so long there and there wasn't much more to see, I booked an earlier train. I walked to the train station with chafing thighs (it was so damn warm), grabbed a Starbucks and did my favourite pastime- people watching, then boarded the train. Then, out of nowhere, the train decided to delay itself by 20 minutes, so I wasted money on booking that train, missing the connection I wanted to get in Hamburg. Thanks, DB. Then, when I got on the bus to go home, I had to wait another 20 minutes in traffic.
Mittwoch
I visited Hannover. Train there was fine- I did some writing on the train and watched 'Friends'. I got off and stumbled upon a bookshop, where I purchased 'Eleanor Oliphant is Totally Fine', a book I had been meaning to buy since I heard about it on the Radio 4 Podcast about the Costa Book Awards. Then I took a stroll, saw the Rathaus (town hall) and Landtag (like a town hall but for the federal government). I wanted to go into the museum of Hannover, but it was closed. Then I sat down in the park by the opera house and did some more reading. There were emos in said park, who were listening to techno music and having a competition to see who could belch the loudest over the music. I thought about tutting, but realised I was probably exactly the same at that age. Then I headed towards the train station, grabbing a Starbucks on the way (this week was basically a whistle stop tour of the Starbucks in Germany). Then I boarded the train. Everything was fine and dandy- I'd began tapping away, writing my book, glad to be home a bit earlier today.
Then we reached Uelzen. And we stopped. We were not due a stop in Uelzen.
Turns out there'd been a fire on the tracks up ahead so we could not proceed. I checked the DB app- it was saying there'd be a 20 minute delay. Not too bad I thought. Until 20 minutes passed. Turns out we'd experience an 80 minute delay. That was no fun lemme tell ya. They did bring around "fun size" Mars Bars and "one" glass of water for us (they explicitly stated so on the loud speaker: ONLY ONE PER PERSON). So generous. I finally made it home around 9pm, after leaving at 4pm. I ordered a takeaway.
Donnerstag
I went to Lueneburg. My word- it was so beautiful! Admittedly, I did get a little lost coming out of the train station, but I soon found my way again. I visited the museum, walked along the river, saw some beautiful buildings- the architecture in Germany always blows me away! I was a bit gutted I didn't have more time for a mooch here to be honest. I got the trains all fine, for once, then the bus home well... we all had to get off and wait for the next one because he was running 18 minutes late. Hardehar. Couldn't escape bad transport apparently.
Freitag
I just did my shopping and gave some Nachhilfe.
Samstag
I did all my cleaning and washing and changed the bedsheets.
Sonntag
Today I did 2 hours of yoga because I hadn't done it for 2 weeks, then had a bath, now I am writing this.
