Woche 11

Guten Abend y'all,

Montag
I did half the lesson today where I spoke about the women in the Easter Rising. It all went well. In the second lesson I was able to give my students my past tense game (I did a variation of snakes and ladders, where each square on the board had a question about forming the past tense), but the room smelled like raw meat and the students were distracted, and I'm pretty sure some were cheating. Then I went to the post office to pick up a parcel, and it wasn't there despite being told it was.

Dienstag
With my first class we played taboo all lesson and I actually got to speak to my students human to human which was nice they are good people. In the next lesson I helped them prepare for a "TV show". Each student was assigned a role, and they had to meet up into groups of the same role and prepare to say their point of view. I actually received the 386 euro I am owed from working in September.

Mittwoch
Had to go to Kiel for a conference. It was ok, and I got to complain about everything that has been pants. Afterwards we went to the Kiel Christmas Markets and had a couple of Gluhweins. Was really beautiful. Came home, was knackered, had beans on toast for tea, and had an 11 hour sleep.

Donnerstag
Had a lie in, went to work early to print some things off. In class they were given 6 gap year jobs, the students were in groups of 3 so they had 2 jobs each to look up vocab, write down the key qualities, etc then feed back to their own group. Then I went home

Freitag
Went to town to buy some stamps and send off my Christmas cards. Town was very busy because the Christmas markets are now open. I treated myself to 40 euros worth of books, then I picked up a McDonalds, bought it home, then after I ate it I tidied the flat and did my weekly shop. Then I had a bath.

Samstag
Went to town, bought some boxes to send off presents in, bought some walking boots which were half price woooohoooo then searched for a DVD player to no avail. I then had to buy milk but got too carried away buying Christmas chocolate that when  I got to the checkout I had to run back because I had forgotten milk. Then I came home, did some wrapping, made a list of presents I've still to get. I then ordered a pizza and put Gone Girl on.

Sonntag
Spent the day writing, cooking, prepping a lesson about Christmas in the UK for Wednesday. Then I had another bath and am writing this.

Words this week: Montag On Monday, my first class had to fill in a gap fill by listening to a tape of the complete text. The text was a conversation between a hairdresser and their client. Then, the students had to pair up and go through the conversation themselves, as if they were in that situation. In my second lesson, four groups had four different cartoons about school shootings. They had to write their own interpretations of the cartoons and present them to the class. Dienstag In the first lesson, they were doing what they did last week.They had a mediation exercise, two reading exercises and flash cards to put vocab on to learn at home. Woche 33+34

Sorrryyyyyyyyyyyy for no blog last week- I was travelling home so didn't get a chance! Words: umgekehrt- upside down die Wuerfel rollen lassen- roll a dice im Klassenverband- as a class auffallend- striking/remarkable einfallen- fall in/collapse verwundert- startled/astonished/in amazement die Akne- acne allmaehlich- gradually/bit by bit die Forellen- trouts sich zur Krise zuspitzen- reach crisis point Montag 30/4 In the first class they had a vocab test. Then they had a worksheet on the use of "For" vs use of "Since"(for = a period time, whereas since = a specific date). They did some adverb exercises and then played an adverb game of memorise where they had to match an adjective to its corresponding adverb. Hallo hallo hallooooooo von Mecklenburg Vorpommen, Yes I am living here now, until Thursday. What a weeeeeeeeeeeeek. Gonna have to rack my brain about what I did on Monday...
