Woche 12 & 13
Halloooo, sorry for not posting in such a long time. I've just been busy and have been reading a German book, so the vocab took me a very long time to fill in (its more time consuming than you think. Plus when you read a book in the foreign language you're learning, you actually wonder if you've learned anything, because there's so many uncommon words and phrases that you have to look up). So I've done a special 2 weeker, you lucky buggers.
Montag 4/12
Pretty boring lesson for the first, as they just had a worksheet about different types of comments they would have to write for their Abitur. In the second lesson I did my past tense game again, though it was met with little enthusiasm, which was fairly annoying.
Dienstag 5/12
Pretty fun first lesson - we just played the game Werewolf (rules are here). In the second lesson they had to help prepare for Nikolastag the next day, so the whole lesson was taken up doing that.
Mittwoch 6/12 (Nikolastag)
In the first lesson the class visited the little Christmas Market other students had put on for Nikolastag. I made Joe a gingerbread heart with icing on top, I bought a candle, a couple of Christmas cards and joined a letter writing campaign. I got to go home early for my second lesson because they were doing something for Nikolastag (they were in control of Fifa and selling hot chocolate and pancakes). I did, however, have to sort out my pay, because my pay slip said they were planning on paying me double what I'm owed for both months, but all I really wanted was to just be paid what I'm owed and not spend more time faffing about with it. I also got a haircut.
Donnerstag 7/12
The class discussed what to do on the last day (I will be spending this day with them). Then they had to read a text about a gap year and tell me what they would do for a job during a gap year.
Freitag 8/12
Cleaned the flat. Did my shopping (saddest shop in the world - I have a lot of things in the freezer from what I've made in a batch before, so don't need to buy much anymore, it's usually just chocolate, wine and loo roll).
Samstag 9/12
Did some more Christmas shopping, but am not very good when I'm by myself. I know what I want to buy people, but tend to get stuck between two choices, so I need Joe here to help decide which one.
Sonntag 10/12
Stayed at home, read, did some writing, had a bath.
Montag
Got up early to go to work, only to be told I wasn't needed for the day, so went home, had a sleep and watched the Punisher on Netflix.
Dienstag
Woke up early to change my address at the Einwohnmeldeamt, only to be met with total impoliteness and failure. Got to work, was sent home early again, waited around until Joe came pretty much. I was looking forward to my Meal Deal he was bringing over, but the airport had ran out of sandwiches (wtf???), so had to go and get something for tea. Travelled to Hamburg to meet him, train was delayed getting in, but his plane was also delayed, then had to rush back to get the train, which was also delayed getting back into Luebeck, then got a Taxi home and got back about 11.
Mittwoch
Went to work, delivered my lessons about Christmas in the UK and it went well for both classes. Met Joe after work, we grabbed some Flammkuchen lunch and did some Christmas shopping, and we went around the markets to get some Gluhwein, and bought a new duvet and pillows. We got home and had pizza and chicken nuggets for dinner, beautifully healthy dinner.
Donnerstag
Did some food shopping (Joe made us a bhuna today so we needed some ingredients) before going to work. When I got to work I had to deliver my Christmas lesson again, only this time I lost half the lesson because the computer wasn't working and we had to switch rooms. After I was done the class had to discuss what they do at Christmas.
Freitag
STAR WARS DAY!!! We got the train nice and early to Hamburg and watched Star Wars, then we went to the hotel, had a lil sleep and got ready to go out. We had a lovely steak then a couple of drinks at the hotel.
Samstag
Travelled back to Luebeck (no delays this time thankfully). We watched Harry Potter, then The Room and Batman while we had a takeaway for tea.
Sonntag
Today we cleaned the flat, Joe made dinner, and I finished my book and its convoluted vocabulary. Now I am watching LOTR for the first time with a glass of wine while Joe has a beer next to me.
