Montag 18/12
Woke up early, had to leave Joe, got to work, and the teacher didn't need me again. The teacher I am with for the other period overheard and invited me to her French class so I went to that and went to the English class afterwards, where I took a group of the students, and they had to make up a story using a variety of past tense verbs about a fisherman. Then Joe and I posted the presents off to my family back home (cost over 40 euro mannnnnn).
Dienstag 19/12
Did my Christmas lesson in the first lesson, even though I was feeling totally poo with a cold. I wasn't needed in my second lesson because they were having a test. I got the form back from my mentor so I can successfully 'anmelden' at last. Then Joe and I went to a supermarket in town to complete the Christmas food shopping.
Mittwoch 20/12
Went to work for the last day, where we had breakfast as a class, then the students spent ages on various internet browsers to find a film on Netflix. Walked home, Joe had my lunch waiting for me. Then we had to meet my dad at the airport. First we checked in at the hotel (my dad told me he booked a hotel on the other side of the island to my flat, and agreed to put us up in the same one), then 10 minutes before we were supposed to go to the airport, my dad told us his plane was delayed 2 hours. This meant we wouldn't get back to Luebeck until 00:10. So we had to wait around until about 20:00 and head off to meet him. Finally met him, got the train back (all while feeling feverish af), arrived at the hotel, and my dad tells us that he's booked a different hotel (even though he told me it was this one), so because it's about 00:35 at this point, he just decides to book a room there rather than go to his original hotel alone. We have a drink (much needed at this point) and go to bed at 2:00.
Donnerstag 21/12
Showed dad the city, took him around the markets and Holstentor and all the little side streets. Then we had a drink at the Jazz Cafe. Then I had to pop back home because I didn't bring any pants with me (wtf????) and we went out to Barcio (one of my fave places here) for a meal (their chicken salad is awesome). We had a couple of drinks there, a jumbo Sex on the Beach, and went back to the hotel for a few more. There had been a fire down the road too, and there were lots of sirens, it was quite scary but I hope everyone is ok.
Freitag 22/12
Showed dad my flat, picked up some parcels, made something to eat, and just chilled. Then we took him back to the airport, got home, all snug, and watched Harry Potter and ate pizza and nuggets.
Samstag 23/12
I was too poorly to move, so had a rest day while Joe did some shopping. When he got back we went for a walk and stopped at a chemist to get some tablets for me (she gave me a free pack of tissues and told me to get better soon bless her).
Sonntag 24/12
Nothing was really open, so we had a relaxing day. Watched Muppets Christmas Carol, did some prep for the Christmas dinner etc.
Montag 25/12
Joe woke me up a couple of times from 4am till 5 so I decided to get up to shush him. We opened our presents, had a croissant, went back to bed and I slept for a bit. We spent about an hour trying to open a prosecco bottle with a cork because we didn't have a corkscrew, and in the end just asked the neighbour who gave us one and said she had loads so we could keep it. We had a couple of naps, watched Parks and Rec (because he bought me the box set!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I was lucky because Joe slaved all day making Christmas dinner for us both. He makes great stuffing. I'm so lucky to be marrying him.
Dienstag 26/12
Spent literally all day doing the 1000 piece red panda jigsaw Joe bought me. It's so hard. The pieces are either red with fur, or the green of a tree. BUT WHERE DO THEY GO PUZZLES ARE SO HARD HOW DID I DO THEM WHEN I WAS 6????
Mittwoch 27/12
We got up and actually left the house and went to Schwerin (the capital of Mecklenburg Vorpommern - the next state over). We had some lunch there and visited the castle and had a walk around their Christmas markets. We had a nice day out and Joe made us burgers and I made wedgies when we got home. We ate and watched Harry Potter and the Camping Trip (the 7th). Then we watched Big Fat Quiz 2017 and God I love Richard Ayoade and David Mitchell.
Donnerstag 28/12
The day I started writing this. We had a bit of a lie in, and then we went out for a jacket potato (the number 1 restaurant here on Trip Advisor is a jacket potato place, and so is the number 3 restaurant). We had a bit of a stroll then came home, popped back and did some shopping (I got 8 euro for my Pfand!! What a discount). Then we had some pate on a broetchen and watched LOTR. Now Joe is preparing a curry for tea. :)
Freitag 29/12
Joe was poorly so I let him have the day in bed. I went out shopping for a NYE outfit and bought a dress and a couple of jumpers. I came back and had a sandwich and looked after my poorly bean.
Samstag 30/12
We went out for pancakes in the morning, then went shopping for alcohol for NYE. Looked in the first two supermarkets and the most expensive champagne they had was 9 euro. Went to the third and bought one for 21 euro (its NYE gotta splash out a bit!) and some Sex on the Beach for 2 euro (wasn't even that awful)
Sonntag 31/12
Had a chilled day, cleaned the house, did the washing, ordered a takeaway, then partied during the night in my flat - facetimed my family and spoke to them. There were fireworks been set off in my street, at the bus stops and out of people's bedroom windows - people would pay £20 for such displays in the UK it was amazing.
