Montag 26/3
In my first class they got their tests back and had to correct them. Then they had to finish their skyscrapers and complete a puzzle sheet about states of America. In my next lesson they spoke to me about their TV habits and favourite movies. I also got a muffin because it was one students birthday and he bought muffins for us all. Good times. Teaching is great.
Dienstag 27/3
I wasn't needed in the first lesson because they were writing a 4 hour long test. In the second lesson we went through the different words in American English and English English (I know its British English) then we found a computer room so they could finish their own presentations about a city or a state.
Mittwoch 28/3
My last day!!! We did Spring Activities in the one class, wherein they made a spider diagram of wildlife/flowers/feelings associated with spring, then they sung the "I love the flowers" song, which I have never heard in my life (thanks, Catholic school). They also had to write a profile for a famous person, including 3 sentences for each tense (past- what the person has done, present- what they are doing now, future- what they will do) and go around the class to read out their sentences and have the other guess who they were. In my next class they were just talking about life in general and school in German, but the teacher brought in so much cake. Good times. Teaching is great.
Donnerstag 29/3
Had a lazy day and went to town to meet my Nachhilfe student, who again didn't show up.
Freitag 30/3
Did my washing and started some packing.
Samstag 31/3
Finished my packing and had a bath to make myself allllllllllll preeeeetty for England.
Sonntag 1/3
Woke up, looked out the window, and the world was white. It had snowed all night and continued to snow all Sunday. "Why?" I bellowed to God. "I am travelling back today. 'Tis Easter Sunday, but your son didn't die for this!!!". But God heard me, and all the travelling was fine. Thanks, God. I struggled at first to get a cab, but that wasn't the snow's fault, it was Easter Sunday after all. Got to the Hauptbahnhof, went to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof, got the S-Bahn to the Airport. I was an hour early so grabbed a croissant. Hung out, rang my family, got in line for the check in, went through security, then stepped into the world of Duty Free. I struggled to find the "Inside the EU" cigarettes, turned out they were right in front of me. After asking a person whose directions I incorrectly followed to the other side of the store (we didn't even converse in German- I am just an idiot. He said "They're on the other side" as in, the other side of the display, not the store. He called me over to point out my error though, so I found them in the end). Then I bought a bottle of sparkling water. However, this bottle was no ordinary bottle of water as I'd come to find out. I went for a cigarette (in a special smoking cabin they have inside the airport) then set my stuff down. I opened my bottle. Then, in slo-mo, the water went EVERYWHERE. I was on the receiving end of some April Fool's prank it seemed. Someone had shook the bottle up, returned it to the basket of sparkling waters, and I selected that one. The water went all over the seat, all over me, and all over my bags. Nobody saw apart from the whole airport. Running away from my embarrassment, I headed to the toilets. I left and had to join the queue for the passport check, which happens just outside where you have to go to get into your gate. The line was super long and I feel like nobody is aware enough of this. If you have a flight from Hamburg Airport make sure you get to your gate early enough to prep for that. I waited at the gate, boarded the plane, nobody was sat next to me so I had a boogie. Flight was fineeee, landed, getting my baggage was painless and the bags had already been taken off the belt for us. I ran out of baggage claim, half because I was excited to see Joe, half because I needed to pee.
There he was. Beautiful as ever. I lightly jogged to him, gave him a hug, and went home (with a short stop at KFC).
Montag
Had the family come over for a meal and mom made a buffet for us all. We caught up and played Cards Against Humanity.
Dienstag
I SAW THE HOUSE WE HAD PURCHASED AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL I LOVED IT. Then we went home and for some lunch. Joe and I then proceeded to IKEA, where I had a long rant about handles. I was going on about how I "like a knob to grab onto, I don't want any of this reach over or under crap, I wanted to grab a proper knob". I realise now that it sounds dirty, but I genuinely mean it about handles. I saw some nice lights and said to Joe "if we were lights, we'd be those lights" and he gave me a look that said "why am I buying this house with you?".
Mittwoch
I SAW OUR HOUSE AGAIN AND IT WAS STILL BEAUTIFUL. Then we drove to a village that's about 10 mins away (its called Gotham- how badass), where we had some lunch in a local pub. They had cobs and they were the size of a plate I could not believe it. We headed home and I stopped at Joe's for the night. We had a lovelyyyyyyyy chippy tea. I miss chippy chips. We also played some Marvel Lego Superheroes, because its my fave game even though Joe hates it, and he totally hogged it.
Donnerstag
We got up and had a cuddle watching Bake Off (thanks, Netflix), Joe made me some toast while I had a shower. Then we went to the Boring Adult Shops (not to be confused with the Fun Adult Shops you might be envisioning), such as Dunelm, B&Q, Bensons for Beds, SCS etc, but we also went to my favourite place on earth- THE RANGE. Man I love it in there. We picked up a meal deal, which I have also missed (there's no such thing as little packs of bags here for some reason). I picked up ALLLLLLLLLLLL the catalogues, because I have no idea how you furnish a house (I need to pick up playing the Sims again).
Freitag
I went for an eye appointment, then to the bank. Because I had done Boring Adult Things, I purchased a cheeky steak bake. Deb and I had lunch planned with some friends so we went there about 3 and didn't leave until 10, then we met my mom's boyfriend in the pub around the corner for a few more drinks.
Samstag
We popped out shopping, where I bought a new handbag and a birthday present for my nan, (also another Cheeky Greggs) and dropped it into her on the way back. Then, Joe and I had a cuddle and said our goodbyes. On the night, I had my first chicken bhuna in 7 months. Oh, baby. Ma hart, ma soul.
Sonntag
Joe and I headed to the airport. Different airports of course, as he was flying from Heathrow to go to work in Africa. I was going to Birmingham to leave my family behind and do the final stretch here. The journey was fine, just long, and I got home about 7:30pm (I set off at 11:30am). When I stepped off the plane, I got That Holiday Feeling because it was 23 degrees. Absolutely gorgeous weather here yesterday and also today. I ordered a takeaway when I got in, because I have no food in the house, and had to wait 2 HOURS FOR IT. It was only ok.
